Diving in a live-aboard is the best way of diving in Turks & Caicos. Just as in many other islands, the best diving locations are far from the touristy beaches.

The bottom of the seas in these islands is very rich of species, comparing to other parts of the Caribbean. The waters of Turks & Caicos are not differenced by their micro inhabitants but by the large Humpback Whales that travel during their annual migration through the Grand Turk and Salt Cay islands from January to March, allowing underwater photographers to spend entire days under the water and in company of these spectacular animals.

French Cay is probably the best option for performing immersions when divers wish to see more than whales. At this island it is possible to find excellent coral reefs, and if you stay at a live-aboard it is very easy to spend the day with large reef sharks such as the Caribbean Reef Shark and even with (unfortunately I was not that lucky) tiger and hammer sharks.

Getting to these islands is relatively easy; an hour and a half flight from Miami connects directly with the Providential islands.

Important: if you travel with your own underwater photography equipment, you are going to have to be very patient with the endless luggage security inspections at the airports.
