DEVOTED TO THE OCEANS.

For the last 25 years, Bernardo has been diving around the world in search of images that connect the viewer with the underwater world and its inhabitants. Being convinced of the power of images, he has tirelessly searched for different ways to raise awareness about the fragility and urgency of protecting the oceans. He has recently complemented his work through a photographic narrative that accounts for the enormous impact of human activity on our planet.

how to protect our oceans?

From a series of experiences Bernardo Sambra tells us how he came to discover the oceans from different perspectives throughout his life. These experiences led him to discover the importance of knowing what is below the sea surface as a first step in protecting the oceans.

JOINING FORCES .

Joining forces is key to achieving greater impact and results. Bernardo´s idea behind the creation of The Living Oceans was precisely to bring together the work of the best image creators to develop a platform that would become a photographic crusade towards caring for the oceans. The aspiration was to allow thousands of people feel transported through photographs and captivating stories and immerse into the oceans without having to dive.

The unique looks and perspectives of David Doubilet, Jennifer Hayes, Cristina Mittermeier, Paul Nicklen, Bryan Skerry, Mauricio Handler, Michael Aw, Christian Dimitrius and many other renowned images creators aim to generate consciousness and unveiling the spectacular biodiversity and beauty found under that thin blue line that we call surface. Making us at the same time, face their fragility and the urgency with which we must take action to protect them.

FRAGILE.

Fragile makes its appearance within the framework of an event of the highest relevance for our planet, the Twentieth Conference of the Parties of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP20) held in Peru. Through this conference, Bernardo and his team sought to become a bearer of a message and a wake-up call that is reflected in images produced by photographers, explorers and scientists convinced that we still have time to change the course of things and man's relationship with the oceans but to be successful, everything must revolve around a common cause.

IN THE MEDIA.

Through articles, books, interviews and images, Bernardo has sought to convey the importance of caring for our planet by generating a frank and direct conversation about the enormous challenges and risks we face.
